“Qiansui Hong” (translated as Thousand-Year Red) is an exceptional expression of Dianhong (Yunnan Black Tea). Sourced directly from high-altitude, misty tea gardens in Yunnan, this tea is crafted from resilient cultivars that thrive in mineral-rich mountain soil. Unlike mass-produced black teas, Qiansui Hong is celebrated for its distinctive “Shan Ye Yun” (wild mountain charm)—a profound, lingering throat-sweetness accompanied by natural honey and complex floral aromas that develop beautifully across multiple infusions.
Aroma: Intense wild mountain blossoms balanced with a warm, comforting baked honey sweetness.
Flavor: Bold yet incredibly smooth. It opens with bright, nectar-like floral notes, transitioning into a rich, malty sweetness reminiscent of sweet potatoes and dark honey.
Mouthfeel & Finish: Velvety and full-bodied with absolutely no astringency or bitterness. It leaves a clean, crisp, and sweet floral aftertaste (Huigan) that lingers for minutes.
This resilient loose-leaf tea is highly forgiving and perfect for multiple steepings.
Western Style (Easy Everyday): Use 2-3g of tea leaves for an 8oz (240ml) mug. Pour hot water at 195°F – 205°F (90°C – 95°C). Steep for 3-4 minutes. Good for 2-3 infusions.
Gongfu Style (Connoisseur Experience): Use 5g of tea leaves in a 100-150ml Gaiwan or Yixing clay pot. Use water at 200°F (93°C). Flash steep for 10-15 seconds for the first 3 infusions, gradually adding 5 seconds for subsequent rounds. This tea easily yields 6 to 8 excellent steepings.
